2026 Photography Challenge Week 1
I’m going to try to do another weekly photography challenge. I’ve started these before and forgotten to continue, or hit a roadblock, or something else kept me from completing it. I’m willing to try again.
Week one’s challenge is Eye Lines. Get your subject to direct the eyes of the audience with their eyes. What are they looking at?
This is the photo I selected for the subject. I took it January 1, after dinner, when we were playing with some sparklers. It’s my wonderful husband and my adorable granddaughter.

Both of them are looking at the sparkler, which leads you to look at the sparkler, as well.
This was one of those serendipitous shots that just happened to be what I wanted. The two people are almost forgotten because you’re just drawn to that sparkler.
I don’t do portraiture in my photography, so I was wondering how I was going to pull this one off. But when you’re trying to direct the eyes of your viewer, it doesn’t take a human looking at the subject; you could have a pet looking at something in the same way. What matters is that they’re looking at something and you can tell they’re looking at something.
Have fun with your photography!
